AHCCCS Awarded Healthy Worksite Platinum Award for Sixth Consecutive Year

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) received the Healthy Arizona Worksite Platinum Award for the sixth consecutive year for demonstrating efforts to positively affect the health of its employees.

The Platinum level award is given to organizations that properly identify health challenges among their employees and actively work to overcome them.

“Our sixth year earning this award is a testament to our commitment to employee well-being and work/life balance,” said Carmen Heredia, cabinet executive officer. “With 88% of our staff working remotely, it’s important to prioritize efforts that support a healthy workplace, especially those that ensure inclusivity for all staff, whether in-office or virtual, in agency events and initiatives.”

AHCCCS continues to promote healthy living through the Healthy Living Program, which is celebrating its eighth year. The program encourages balanced nutrition, fitness and exercise, and awareness of whole person health. The agency is also launching a new training program that encourages employee wellness through mindfulness activities focusing on career development, compassion fatigue, and the use of resources like the state’s Employee Assistance Program.

The Healthy Arizona Worksites Award, a public health initiative offered by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health, recognizes employers that are making efforts to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees, their families, and their community by implementing comprehensive worksite wellness strategies.
