State Opioid Response IV (SOR IV)

Background

The overarching goal of the Arizona State Opioid Response IV (SOR IV) program is to increase access to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and stimulant use disorder treatment, coordinated and integrated care, recovery support services, and prevention activities to reduce the prevalence of OUDs, stimulant use disorders, and opioid-related overdose deaths. The project approach includes developing and supporting state, regional, and local level collaborations and service enhancements to develop and implement best practices to comprehensively address the full continuum of care related to stimulant and opioid misuse and dependency.

In September 2024, Arizona received an award notice of $34,800,088 for year one of the three year SOR IV grant iteration, from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) to implement prevention, recovery support, and treatment activities for this effort. AHCCCS intends to submit continuation applications for years two and three of the SOR IV grant iteration for FFY 2026 and 2027. AHCCCS, as the Single State Agency for Substance Abuse Treatment, will administer the grant in collaboration, partnership and bu contractual agreement with other state agencies, tribal partners with Tribal Regional Behavioral Health Authority (TRBHA) agreements, Managed Care Organizations (MCO) who have been awarded AHCCCS Complete Care -Regional Behavioral Health Agreements (ACC-RBHAs), and direct contracts to implement the activities approved in our application and notice of award.
